Action Research

What is Research?

Research is about seeking, discovering, and publishing information information that answers a question you are interested in or that clarifies a concern or issue you are interested in.

Every day we do research. Every day we have questions and seek information that would help us solve them.

e.g. Which Lecturer is the best Action Research lecturer? This is a research question the answer to which you can discover in many different ways.

What is the difference between Quantitative Research and Qualitative Research
Follow these links to learn more about the difference between, Qualitative Research and Quantitative Research.

Please note that in Action Research may be Qualitative or Quantitative or both.

Basically the difference between Quantitative and Qualitative depends on two main things:
1. In Qualitative you know what you are looking for when you find it. In Quantitative - before you find it you know what you are looking for and you may or may not find it. e.g

If I am doing research on practicum I can say that Practicum has no influence on Teacher Performance. Then I can set out to see if this is so. This is Quantitative regardless of the methodology or design used. But I can also say "What influence does practicum have on Teacher performance".
